Accomplishments in Office
- Digitized all real estate records going back to the formation of the county in 1872, ensuring they are all available for viewing and retrieval online and can be easily accessible in the event of a disaster.
- Created a Disaster Preparedness/Recovery Plan
- Implemented an online vital record ordering system
- Implemented an online marriage license application submission form and installed a marriage license application kiosk within the office
- Implemented a new electronic birth registration system (EBRS) which allows customers to obtain birth certificates from Pamlico County even when born in another NC county (1971 forward)
- Implemented a property fraud alert system called Property Check which notifies citizens when documents have been recorded that contain their name
- Began a program called “Thank-A-Vet”, which allows veterans to receive discounts from participating businesses after recording their military form DD214 in the Register of Deeds office
- Began electronic recording of real estate documents making the recording process time-saving and efficient
- Digitized and computerized all military DD214s dating back to 1920s
- Digitized and computerized Record of Incorporations dating back to 1887
- Started an on-going restoration process of oldest marriage records; restoration of births and deaths to follow
- Obtained professional certification through the North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds for the Register and staff
- Donated old records that had met the retention schedule to the Pamlico County Heritage Center instead of destroying them; thereby, preserving our local history
